Understanding Video Learning Student Members to the HLHS watch and study the harmonica video lessons at their appropriate skill level or style preference (Blues, Jazz, Folk, World Music and Classical). Using a simple webcam, students record themselves practicing and submit the video online using the site’s simple Video Exchange System.
Howard reviews every video and responds to his harmonica students either with a video or written evaluation. This exchange between Master harmonica teacher and student are permanently recorded and paired on the site for the entire Harmonica School to learn. Being able to watch these exchanges not only provides an enormous resource for music students, it provides a platform that breaks new ground in learning a musical instrument.
Getting feedback from an accomplished musician has been very limited in the past. The Howard Levy Harmonica School allows students to progress to new levels of playing by having direct interaction with Howard and by exchanging videos online with him. Although students learn harmonica faster by submitting a video, just participating in the community and network enhances the learning experience. Video submission is not required and the Video Exchanges are viewable 24/7. Howard’s comprehensive video curriculum is categorized from beginner harmonica to advanced harmonica lessons and according to particular styles, like
the Blues, Jazz, Folk, World Music and Classical.
